The Lynx Gang (sometimes known as The Lynx Crew) is a Birmingham-based gang that was founded in the 1970s, initially to protect the Asian community (most notably of Mirpuri Kashmiri and Pathaan origin) from racist skinheads. Later, the gang transformed into a violent criminal gang. It included petty criminals and drug users; [1]
The gang was founded in the Small Heath area of the city, but later spread to the Birmingham boroughs Lozells, Handsworth, Alum Rock, Sparkhill, Sparkbrook, and Aston. Rival gangs include the Birmingham Panthers, Burger Bar Boys, the Sikh Shere Punjab and the Redheads. Moazzam Begg is an ex-member of the gang.[2][3]
